When a vehicle cannot be started or safely driven due to a breakdown, accident, or other covered vehicle disablement, the independent service provider can tow the vehicle back to its facility, no matter how far away, at no charge to the member1. If the member chooses to have the vehicle towed to another location (including a AAA Approved Auto Repair facility), the following towing benefits apply:

Classic: Towed without charge to the destination of their choice up to seven driving miles in any direction from the point of breakdown.2

AAA Plus®: Towed without charge to the destination of their choice up to 100 driving miles in any direction from the point of breakdown.2

AAA Premier®: Towed without charge to the destination of their choice up to 200 driving miles for one service call per cardholder per membership year and up to 100 driving miles for the remaining service calls.2

1Not all independent service providers perform repairs at their facilities. Member must be present when the vehicle is delivered to a closed repair facility.

AAA Plus® and AAA Premier® members are entitled, at no cost, to delivery of sufficient fuel to reach the nearest service station. Classic members must pay for the fuel. Diesel must be requested when you call for service and may not always be available.


When AAA members lock their keys inside their vehicle passenger compartment, an independent service provider will attempt to gain entrance. Cost for this service is covered by the membership. In the event of lost or broken keys, keys locked in the trunk, or other lock-related emergencies, AAA will assist the member in locating a locksmith. AAA will also provide up to $60 for parts and labor when locksmith services are required for Classic members. AAA Plus® members are provided up to $100 in parts and labor and AAA Premier® members are provided up to $150 for parts and labor when a locksmith is required.

Reimbursement of charges: When it is necessary to pay for service at commercial rates, an itemized receipt listing the member's name, vehicle, and services rendered is required. Bring or mail the original receipt and an explanation of the circumstances to the local AAA branch within 60 days of the date of service. A reimbursement counts as a Roadside Assistance call. Reimbursement is not provided for taxi fares, telephone calls, rental cars, etc.

Partial reimbursement: Only partial reimbursement, limited to the amount AAA would have paid an independent contract station to provide the service, will be made when AAA was not called to provide service.


AAA Battery Service is a mobile battery testing and replacement service. In areas where the service is available, a AAA Battery Service technician will test and assess the vehicle's battery and electrical system. If the vehicle's battery is dead, the independent service provider will jump start your vehicle if possible. If it cannot be started, towing will be provided under the towing benefit.

If the existing battery fails the test and the member would like to have the battery replaced, the technician will install a new battery, if available, that meets or exceeds the vehicle's original specifications. All batteries come with a 72-month limited warranty with a 36-month free replacement period valid in the U.S. and Canada. AAA Battery Service is provided by independent contractors and is only available in select areas, during select hours. Batteries and battery warranties are provided by independent suppliers. Batteries are available for most makes and models. Battery prices vary depending on vehicle make and model. Copies of the warranties are available for inspection from the technician at any time upon request.


If the vehicle's spare tire is inflated and serviceable, it will be installed to replace a flat tire if possible. When a serviceable spare tire is not available or cannot be installed, towing will be provided under the towing benefit.


When it is safe, minor repairs may be attempted to return the vehicle to a drivable condition. These repairs cannot be guaranteed, and the member should immediately proceed to a repair facility and consult a mechanic. AAA cannot guarantee the availability of repairs. The AAA service representative or the independent service provider can assist in locating a local AAA Approved Auto Repair facility, upon request.


If your vehicle becomes stuck, one normally equipped service vehicle and one driver will be provided to extricate or winch your vehicle when it can be safely reached from a normally traveled road or established thoroughfare. Extrication of vehicles parked on streets, driveways, parking lots, or alleys which are snowbound or flooded is not covered under AAA membership. Service does not include shoveling snow from around a vehicle or clearing a road or driveway. If special equipment, more than one service vehicle, or more than one person is required, the associated costs may be at your expense.

AAA Plus and AAA Premier members who require extrication or winching for a vehicle will be provided up to two drivers and two service vehicles, if needed, at no additional charge. Members with optional RV/Motorcycle Roadside Assistance will receive extrication or winching for their RV, motorcycle or recreational trailer; up to two drivers and two service vehicles, if needed, provided that RV/Motorcycle service will be subject to the dollar amount limitations described in Optional RV/Motorcycle Roadside Assistance below.


Auto rental assistance program: When you need a replacement vehicle due to mechanical breakdown or roadside emergency, AAA will help arrange a rental car and receive special discounts from AAA preferred providers.

AAA Plus rental benefit: In addition to discounted rates, AAA Plus members receive a complimentary one-car class upgrade from a AAA preferred rental car provider. The upgrade benefit is available when your primary vehicle requires a tow. If the one-car class upgrade is not available, the member will receive the next higher car class, subject to availability.

AAA Premier complimentary rental car: If AAA tows your vehicle in your AAA club's local territory, we can arrange a rental car for one day at no charge from a AAA preferred rental car provider. AAA Premier members are entitled to one complimentary one-day midsize rental car per year, when the tow is one of four allowable Roadside Assistance calls. Service must be arranged through AAA and provided by a preferred provider. Members have up to 48 hours to request the rental and are responsible for subsequent days' charges, upgrades, vehicle insurance, mileage, fuel charges, fees, and taxes. Once the one-day complimentary rental is used, AAA Premier members are entitled to discounted daily rates plus a complimentary one-car class upgrade. If an upgrade vehicle is not available, members will receive the next higher car class, subject to availability.

Normal rental qualifications including age restrictions, credit card hold, and other restrictions apply for all benefits. Rental cars are subject to availability. Rates subject to change.


Option provides up to 4 extra service calls per membership year just for RV/motorcycle tows, extrication and winching and RV tire changes. Up to $500 per RV/motorcycle service call; $1,000 max. per household per membership year.

Eligible Vehicles: Motorcycles licensed for highway use, motor homes, camper vans, cab-over campers, camping trailers, recreational trailers, fifth-wheel trailers, boat trailers, personal watercraft trailers, ATV trailers, Utility trailers carrying recreational vehicles or equipment, empty horse trailers you own, borrow, or rent. Boat trailers, personal watercraft trailers and ATV trailers must be either empty or transporting recreational vehicles or equipment. Commercial trailers are excluded.

Members are responsible for all costs of service above stated service call and household limits. Optional RV/Motorcycle Roadside Assistance services are effective 7 calendar days after processing and receipt of the full payment due. Service is provided by independent service providers. Members with Classic AAA benefits are responsible for fuel charges. Optional RV/Motorcycle Roadside Assistance benefits are subject to the provisions of the Member Guide.


The Auto Club provides common forms online to download, or you can stop by your local branch to take care of select DMV transactions, Monday through Saturday. Common transactions include registration renewal with sticker, transfer of ownership for used vehicles (including boats, motorcycles and trailers), and filing a change of address.

If your vehicle needs work, look for a repair facility that displays the AAA Approved Auto Repair sign. Each AAA Approved Auto Repair facility is required to meet our quality standards and back its work with a guarantee, on both parts and labor, good for 24 months or 24,000 miles whichever comes first under normal operating conditions, unless otherwise stated in writing. AAA members receive a 10% discount (up to $50) on regularly priced parts and labor if the discount is requested.

As a Classic or AAA Plus member, you are entitled to a 20 percent discount on the purchase of vehicle history reports.
